This intensive five-day residential course is intended for people who want to become accredited Get Into Reading facilitators.
Over a fun but intensive five days this course will give you the insider view on what makes Get Into Reading (GIR) work. GIR facilitators, staff and reading group members will put you through a vigorous reading workout, help you identify areas of practice to work on, and give you the opportunity to lead a reading group in a companionable and supportive environment. Put simply, the experience will give you the practical tools that are necessary to run a GIR project.
Course attendance also gives you access to The Reader Organisation's online resources as they develop, help in choosing good reading material, special offers on our events, networking days and conferences, as well as one year's subscription to The Reader magazine. Most importantly of all you will meet a supportive and diverse range of like-minded colleagues.
Please send any enquires to Mark Till, GIR Training Programme Assistant: email readtolead@thereader.org.uk; or call 0151 794 2242.
We recommend that accredited Get Into Reading facilitators attend a Masterclass: Half Day School once every two years (although you can attend as many as you wish to!). The Masterclass is an opportunity to keep facilitators up-to-date with the latest GIR practice, to polish reading and facilitation techniques, and to share good ideas face to face.
