Continuing Professional Development

Completion of Read to Lead Core Training gives you 12-month access to our national programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

CPD exists to support and sustain best practice in shared reading. It reaffirms Core Training and deepens your understanding of what it means to be a reader and a shared reading facilitator.

For a full list of dates and events, download the Read to Lead CPD Calendar.

Reading Lab

Have you read something which has moved you, and which you think might work well in a shared reading group, but would like an opportunity to test it out first? Reading Labs give facilitators the chance to bring along a poem or short extract – maybe something a bit risky or challenging – and try it out in a supportive group environment. There are three guest-facilitator slots at each Lab, lasting about twenty minutes each, and attendees can offer to lead one of these slots or join in with the discussion and give feedback. Either way, it’s a great opportunity to brush up your facilitation technique and find great new material.

If you’d like to take part, please contact info@thereader.org.uk.

Renewing your CPD

It is possible to renew your subscription to CPD after 12 months for £250 per person p/a. To do this please contact : info@thereader.org.uk / 0151 207 7207.
