Royal Reading
The Reader Organisation has recently started a new Get Into Reading group in a rather regal location: Kensington Palace in London! We are working in partnership with Historic Royal Palaces, who have refurbished and recently re-opened the Palace to the public, and who are keen to be working with local community organisations. The Palace itself has a number of beautiful exhibitions, including one on the life of Queen Victoria, and we will be reading stories connected in some way to the Palace and its former residents.
This week, inspired by Queen Victoria’s doll’s house in the exhibition, we read The Doll’s House by Katherine Mansfield and discussed childhood toys, our experiences of school and the influence of parents on their children.
The group takes place every Tuesday, 2-3.30pm, and is open to people living in the boroughs of Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, and Hammersmith & Fulham. Please email Sutherland Forsyth outreachandcommunity@hrp.org.uk if you would like to come along.
