CALL FOR IDEAS: The Reader Organisation’s Second National Conference
Following on from the huge success of last year's conference, The Reader Organisation’s Second National Conference will take place in Liverpool, Tuesday 17th May 2011. It will bring together leading professionals – nationally and internationally – in health, education, social care, community, local authority and criminal justice sectors, to join in the conversation about reading for wellbeing.
"Truly inspirational" - Participant at our 2010 conference
Our confirmed speakers are:
- Professor Maryanne Wolf, internationally acclaimed author of Proust and The Squid: The Story and Science of the Reading Brain
- Marilynne Robinson, Pulitzer Prize winning novelist (Gilead and Home)
- Professor Rick Rylance (Chair of the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council) on ‘Defending the Humanities’
- Sue Charteris, Founder and Director, Shared Intelligence
This is a CALL FOR IDEAS.
We especially want to hear from you if you are:
- Involved in projects researching ‘what happens when we read?’;
- Have a story to tell about developing shared reading projects across the UK, or further afield;
- Have something inspirational to share.
Please note that space is limited and we can only accept a small number of proposals for presentations, workshops, or membership of panels.
If you wish to submit a proposal, please send your title, abstract (no more than one side of A4), and contact details to Claire Speer: clairespeer@thereader.org.uk; by February 18th 2011.
Information about pricing, venue, and what you can expect from the conference, will follow shortly.
