Art in the Mansion – Exhibition Opportunity
Artists from across the Liverpool City Region are being invited to show their work as part of the new Art in the Mansion programme being launched by dot-art in partnership with The Reader in South Liverpool.
dot-art is working with The Reader to curate a rolling programme of exhibitions of local artists’ work in the Mansion House at Calderstones Park. The display areas are located within the reception area, hall, main corridor and shop. Art work on display will be available to buy through The Reader shop or via dot-art. With the temporary closure of the Reader Gallery in the Coach House building, Art in the Mansion offers local artists community a fantastic platform to promote and sell their work.
The Reader, a national charity championing the value and benefits of literature and Shared Reading, delivers a wide range of activities at its Calderstones base, including a visual art programme. By teaming up with dot-art, a fellow social enterprise which specialises in supporting local visual artists, The Reader is able to offer visitors lots of ways to engage with art, all led by local creatives. Alongside Art in the Mansion, dot-art will be offering a wide range of art classes to the general public as well as community creative sessions.
Lucy Byrne, Managing Director of dot-art:
“After almost 18 months of closures and having to rely on digital platforms, we are really excited about being able to offer local artists the opportunity to showcase their work to the public in such inspiring and welcoming surroundings. We are all craving physical experiences, and viewing art is always better in person! We look forward to helping talented creatives rebuild their audiences and develop their customer base.”
Anton Clarke, Director of Social Enterprise at the Reader added:
“Our partnership with dot-art, which is based on shared values and community support, was only just starting when the pandemic hit, so it is great to start opening up these opportunities.”
